The world of StrawberryLips stretches across an endless, restless ocean, where isolated islands rise from the depths beneath a vast sky.
To the north frozen islands await, where searing cold razes all hope for human survival. Only demons prowl these icy wastes, shunning humankind, choosing isolation amid the perpetual frost.
In the south, relentless heat scorches the land, creating deserts where even demons struggle to survive. Only the strongest and wildest clans endure this inferno, living where the world suffers under the scorching sun.
Moving closer to the center, the air grows less cruel, lulled by deceptive tranquility. Here, most humans cling together, seeking fragile safety in numbers, haunted by the shadows at the world’s edge.
In the heart of this harsh world, the largest island rises up like a monstrous beast and is home to a huge, ancient city. On this island, the university sits in the middle of a forest - a fortress full of secrets where the story of StrawberryLips unfolds.
Kagome is a human child from the western islands, remote and transient, where demons are rarely found. Growing up far away from their world, because these islands are untouched by the rites and secrets of other species - like small, lonely lanterns waiting for darkness to fall.
Yet not every demon succumbs to the pull of the chains of fate.
Voices of the Past
The demons had always been a warlike race – shaped by the icy north wind and the merciless nights in Hitze. They knew no mercy, setting sail in dark ships to rob humans of what they themselves had never created. Hardened by life and imbued with ancient power, they set out and survived where others would long since have fallen.
In the warm center, however, lived the humans. The sun spoiled them, their harvests were sweet, and danger was rare. There, strength did not grow from pain, but the spirit grew from peace and security. Their rapid rise filled the lands, they subjugated the fertile soils until their shadows fell over the world.
One day, humans arrived in white ships, driven by a hunger for power. They believed they could easily subjugate the weaker islands – blinded by arrogance and more numerous than ever before. But the demons, shaped by battles and deprivation, greeted the invaders with steel. For every warrior in their tribe knew the art of war from an early age. On that fateful night, the first great war broke out, and from blood grew a never-ending enmity.
The years passed and turned into decades, while one war after another broke out. Until one day, a few conciliatory acts of kindness united the nations.
Yet the scars remained, while the demons, marked by time, spread across the earth. They adapted, but the constant stream of human innovations left them behind. Their existence was worn down - haunted by the past, threatened by the future.
Soon, perhaps, nothing will remain of their proud existence, and only a memory of this race will remain.
